Winter & Spring Children’s Programs

 WINTER & SPRING REGISTRATION begins Saturday, January 6, after 9:00 a.m.  To register, visit our Kids Depot page at, and click on Programs & Registration or call 440.333.7610 ext. 5502 or stop by the Children’s Department.
A parent or caregiver must be present in the building during all programs for children 10- years-old and younger.

Story Times

Registration required.   These story times are five-week sessions.
begin Monday, January 22nd and end Thursday, February 22nd.
Spring Story Times begin Monday, March 19th and end Thursday, April 26th.
Please note: Story times will not be held April 2 – 5.

Baby & Me

For babies and toddlers and their caregivers
Join us for a 20-minute lapsit program of songs, stories and rhymes in the Purple Room.

Family Story Time

Outback Ray’s Amazing Animal Show

Adapted Story Time

Children with varying learning styles and abilities learn together in a safe, supportive environment where respect and appreciation for differences is encouraged.  Programs incorporate double visuals, a schedule board and an opportunity for play and socialization.

Tech Tales

For ages 3-5 & their caregivers

This classic story time has a digital component. By sharing excellent age-appropriate apps along with books and songs, the librarian will model joint media engagement between adult and child. Tablets will be provided.

Interactive Story Time with the RRPL Volunteer Youth Crew

Please choose one 4-week series either Tuesdays or Thursdays.  Programs in each series are identical.

Come and explore the digital world of Minecraft! Minecraft is an internet game set in a randomly generated 3D world, and features gameplay focusing on creativity and building. Minecrafters is held in the Computer Training Room.

 Tween Book Clubs & Programs

Registration required.  A copy of the book for each club member will be available for pick up in the Children’s Department at time of registration. Snacks provided.

Going Graphic!

Book Club for students in grades 4-6

Do you love comics and graphic novels? If so, then Going Graphic is a book club for you!  We will read Amulet: Book One The Stonekeeper by Kazu Kibuishi, followed by City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau.

River Readers

Book Club for students in grades 4-6

Fun, friends, food, and books all come together in the River Readers book club. Our first book will be Series of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning.

Middle School Book Club

RRPL Green Team

Learn about the National Wildlife Federation Backyard Certification Program and get crafty on projects to create better environments for our own backyards as well as wildlife in our area.

Volunteer Youth Crew

Make a difference at your library by volunteering to work in the Children’s Department. Projects include creating an interactive story time for preschoolers and helping prepare registration incentives for Summer Reading.

Join us to read and discuss the Newbery Award Winner, Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Pena.  You’ll be inspired by our Gratitude and Appreciation Games as well as the many ways in which we can make our community a better place to live for everyone.   This event is in conjunction with Our Community Reads: Evicted by Matthew Desmond.

International Harry Potter Book Night

Homeless Shelter Service Project

For students in grades 5 & up

In honor of Our Community Reads: Evicted by Matthew Desmond, we will make no-sew blankets for youth who are currently living in the Family Promise program.  Family Promise helps families move from homeless crises to sustainable independence. Pizza lunch provided.
