Week of Welcome was a huge success!

During the first week of school Teen Librarian Megan and I had a blast welcoming, feeding, and entertaining over 400 tweens and teens at the library! It was really important for us to make sure that this group of youth feel welcome here at the library.  We love to see them!

On Tuesday we had a delicious pancake bar extravaganza! Everyone who wrote down their suggestions for future library programs and ideas got free whip cream topping. We were delighted to see that the biggest requests were even more dates for book clubs, food and movie programs!

On Wednesday we hosted our first “Get in the Game” of the year where kids got to play video and table top games together. The biggest hit beyond having fun with friends at the library were the free sno-cones from our new sno-cone machine! What a great treat in the heat!

On Thursday we had outdoor games and root beer floats. Yum! It was great to make use of our beautiful front reading garden and see over 100 tweens and teens  playing in the great outdoors together!

Finally on Friday we slowed downed and cooled off inside with a movie viewing of “Zootopia” along with melted chocolate, graham crackers, pretzels and marshmallows.

It was an amazing week with some of the greatest kids on earth the tweens and teens of Rocky River! We look forward to everyone coming in after school this year to participate in our many programs just for tween and teens.
